1933 Recorded first song for HMV, Song was “Bitalaku Alingana...” written by Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja;
1933 Utkal Sahitya Samaaja had organized a Chhanda Music Competition, where Nimainn was awarded first prize and obtained “Gajapati Maharaja Gold Medal”;
1933 Late Radhanath Dev Burman , the then king of princely state of Athagarh , pleased with his song, honoured him as a Court Musician with monthly salary of Rs.30/- and gifted him 100 Acre landed property and Old Palace to permanently stay at Athgarh;
1934 Started singing Odiya song from All India Radio(AIR) Kolkata;
1934 He bagged the Gold Medal for Odissi Music from Utkal Sangeet Samaaja,Cuttack;
1943 Titled “Banikantha” by HMV;
1948 He become the first singer of All India Radio(AIR) Cuttack and on its inauguration day, he sang the first song for AIR, Cuttack, which was broadcast on said date, song was “Sri Radha Baatuli Prema Ratna Tuli…” written by the famous poet, Abhimanyu Samanta Singhaara. It is also his claim that,he had never cancelled a single program of AIR in his life;
1949 Banikantha rendered his voice only for the 3rd Odiya film “Sri Jagannath” , where he sang 2 song, “Nila Sindhu Tire” and “Chakadolaa Kimpaa Dakaa”. Both the song were smash hit and ensured the box office successes of the movie. He also acted on this same film & both the Songs were Picturised on him.
1950 “Utkal Nrutya Saneeta Natyakalaa Parisad” was established and he became its General Body Member. Subsequently on 14.09.1957 said organization was reestablished with the name of “Odisha Sangeet Nataka Academy”,
1950 Honoured by Late Kaka Kalekar at ‘Sarvodaya Samalanee’,Angul;
1954 For his commitment to the “Chhanda Sangeeta”, he has got “Kendra Sangeet Nataka Academy Award” ;
1963 Honoured by ‘Utkala Bandhaba Samity’, ‘Prabashi Sahitya Chakra’ and “Golamuri Utkal Samaaja” of Jamshedpur;
1966 “Bishuva Award” from Prajatantra Prachara Samity;
1971 He got the ‘Chaamara Seva’ to serve his Lord Sri Jagannath from Gajapati Maharaja Sri Sri Dibyasigha Dev .Which he was performing sincerely till his death;
1976 He was first Odia Singer awarded, ‘Padmashree’ by the then President of India, H.E. Late Fakhiruddin Ali Ahmed;
1978 Honoured by Gajapati Maharaja Sri Sri Dibyasigha Dev with a title “Sangeeta Sudhakantha”;
1978 Titled “Sangeeta Kalpataru” by Srikhetra Kalaa Prakaasikaa, Puri on the occasion of Bhajan Samaroha organised on Baikuntha Chaturdasi, month of Kartik;
1979 “Odisha Sangeeta Nataka Academy” award;
1980 ‘Utkala Sahitya Samaja’ gave him ovation by installing his “Taila chitra”(Oil paint) in historical hall, Sri Ram Chandra Bhabana, Cuttack, in his presence,which was a rare Honour for him;
1983 On 19th July, 1983, Tuesday’ at the age of 82, he passed away at the Lotus Feet of ‘Mahaprabhu’ symbolically during ‘Baahudaa Jatra’ the return Car Festival of Puri. It is so astonishing that, on 12th July, just seven days before his death, he had sung a song “Baahudei Nebu Mote Baahuda dibase” in a Bhajana Samaaroha, organized in Saradahabali. And see the coincidence; it was his last song, which, he had sung in front of the Car-ridden Lord Jagannath. Such was the power of his devotion.
