BANIKANTHA NIMAIN CHARAN HARICHANDAN

“Life blossoms like a flower and departs. Flower, that blooms and decays in desolation becomes unnoticed. But, only that flower’s life becomes abundant, what engaged into the service of the almighty”.

This is what, Padmashree Banikantha Nimain Charan Harichandan had once told about himself. He is such a flower; after his sad demise since long; his golden music has not lost an iota of its old magic and vigour. His unique voice still echoes in the heart of every Odia. A recipient of Padmashree, he was famous for his devotional songs (bhajana & janaana) mostly on and about the black-faced round-eyed Jagannath, besides his wide repertoire of songs including Odissi, Chaanda, Champoo, Palligita (folk) and Developmental Songs.
